Today Rusizi BBC vs UGB - 9am

Second-placed Rusizi Basketball Club host United Generation Basketball (UGB) on Sunday in a rescheduled league game that was initially supposed to be played last month.

The Rusizi-based team, that finished fifth last season and have only lost to the defending champions and still unbeaten this season, are now targeting to maintain their impressive form in-front of their home fans.

Hosts Rusizi, who are playing their last  first round match today, have managed to win all their games but one that they lost 71-66 to Espoir.

"We are happy with our progress and improvement in the ongoing league. Last year it did not go well for us as we finished fifth but this time winning the title is the main target,” Rusizi BBC boss, Jean Pierre Gashema, told Sunday Sport.

Gashema is proud of the fact that his team managed to beat some of the league’s heavy weights including former champions APR and Kigali Basketball Club (KBC).

"We are determined and focused on winning the title, it will be hard especially with the form of the champions (Espoir), but will give it our best shot possible to the very end,” he told this paper by phone on Saturday.

A win for Rusizi will take them to within a point of Espoir, who lead the table with 12 points from six matches.
