AVEGA Agahozo, an organisation of widows of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda, on June 5 received a mobile clinic expected to strengthen its ability to bring essential healthcare services closer to genocide widows and surrounding communities. ALSO READ: AVEGA members reflect on journey of healing and resilience The facility was donated by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) to Imbuto Foundation and entrusted to the association for operation. According to AVEGA, the facility will support a range of interventions, including medical outreach, screening for non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and mental health conditions, health education, and other community-based initiatives aimed at promoting health, resilience, and overall well-being. The handover ceremony was attended by Dr. Claude Muvunyi, the Director General of Rwanda Biomedical Centre (RBC), the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Rwanda, Elodie Shami, the Director General of Imbuto Foundation, Kenan Yigit, the TIKA Country Director, and other partners. AVEGA expressed gratitude to its partners for their continued support, noting that the contribution reflects a shared commitment to improving access to healthcare services and supporting healthier, more resilient communities.
