Supra Model Rwanda, one of Rwanda’s prestigious fashion shows is back for its second edition to award this year’s Supra Model and recognize various players for their contribution to the development of the fashion industry. The contest application is now open until August 5.

The fashion event held its inaugural edition last year in a colorful fashion night held at Century Park promising fashion enthusiasts that it is here to stay. The first edition was considered as a test and was successful, seeing that it is already receiving requests from international stakeholders to join it.

Alphonse Nsengiyumva, the brains behind Supra Model, revealed that interested models are sending in their applications including names, photo and age. The application is open for models between 18 and 24 years. The overall winner will walk away with a prize of Rwf1, 000,000.

"We are excited for the second edition as a big number of models are registering for the competition. Supra Model Rwanda has gained a lot of attention and recognition compared to last year leading to its continuous growth. Models who will be selected will undergo many challenges that will help shape them into professional models,” he said.

Nsengiyumva believes Supra Model will play an instrumental impact in indirectly promoting the fashion industry. There is a bright future for the local fashion industry, he said, if more platforms are brought on board to support and motivate the industry.

Among other awards to recognize various players in the development of the fashion industry include fashion journalists, designers, photographers, SupraModel Achievement Award, the best model at the international stage, Best Fashion Entrepreneur, Best Makeup Artist, modelling agencies and the models who made the difference as per the public opinion and an identified jury.
