Cabinet appoints SGs for EAC ministry, Minagri

KIGALI - A cabinet meeting on Friday named Charles Gasana as the Secretary General (SG) for the newly created Ministry for East African Affairs (MINEAC).

KIGALI - A cabinet meeting on Friday named Charles Gasana as the Secretary General (SG) for the newly created Ministry for East African Affairs (MINEAC). The ministry was created during a Cabinet reshuffle earlier this year.

The same Cabinet meeting chaired by President Paul Kagame also named Ernest Ruzindaza as the new Secretary General in the Ministry of Agriculture (Minagri). Ruzindaza replaces Agnes Kalibata, who is now the Minister of State for Agriculture.

The Cabinet also named Paul Mbaraga as chairman of the board of directors of Rwanda Office of Information (Orinfor), the state media group.

Other members appointed are Henriette Zimurinda (vice chairman), Prisca Mujawayezu, Anaclet Kalibata, Rosemary Mbabazi, Joseph Habumukiza and Nkubito Bakuramutsa.

The former board was headed by presidential advisor on media and communication, Dr. Alfred Ndahiro.

The same meeting also approved The New Times Publications Managing Editor, Ignatius Kabagambe, as a board member of the national media regulatory organ, the High Council of the Press (HCP), together with Fr Pierre Claver Nkusi of Kinyamateka newspaper.

Other appointments included Laetitia Nkunda who was made the director of the Community Development Fund (CDF) while former deputy Ombudsman Bernardin Ndashimye was named as head of the Automobile Guarantee Fund.

The Cabinet also appointed High Court president Johnston Busingye and Emilie Kayitesi Rusera as Rwanda’s representatives to the East African Court of Justice.
