The Chief of Uganda National Police, Lt. Gen. Kale Kayihura, who is also currently head of the Eastern Africa Police Chiefs Cooperation Organisation (EAPCCO), has called for joint regional efforts against terrorism.Kayihura made the remarks late this week while giving a lecture to regional police officers on the feasibility of combating terrorism in the East African region and the continent."It is possible to remove any terrorist threats but it can only happen when we share goodwill, expertise and timely information,” he said.The officers were undergoing a two-month training in terrorism at Rwanda Police Academy that brought together officers from regional countries including Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, Uganda, Malawi, Ethiopia, South Sudan and the Republic of Sudan.Rwanda’s Inspector General of Police, Emmanuel Gasana, concurred with his Ugandan counterpart on the idea of close partnership, saying Rwanda would not hesitate to give its expected contribution.
