Cadres trained on leadership and competitiveness

Rwanda’s Institute of Administration and Management (RIAM), yesterday kick-started a capacity building course in leadership skills and enhancement of competitiveness at institution’s head office, at Muhima.

Rwanda’s Institute of Administration and Management (RIAM), yesterday kick-started a capacity building course in leadership skills and enhancement of competitiveness at institution’s head office, at Muhima.

The Academy for Leadership in Competitiveness and Prosperity (ALCP) program, a one-week leadership training hosted by the Rwanda’s administration institute was sponsored and provided by OnTheFrontier (OTF) group.

"It is critically important; to train young cadres in the private and public sectors, to develop their mindset and attitudes, so as to be champions of positive change and as active implementers of vision 2020” Vincent Karega the minister of state for commerce said in his speech while opening the training.

Karega commended the training, pointing out how necessary it is for people to be given leadership skills, and improving their competitiveness, because they are central aspects to achieving the country’s vision 2020.

Eric Kacou, the managing director of OTF group said that the initiative intends to expose young Rwandan leaders to successful models of development throughout the world.

"These new leaders need to have greater confidence to foster creativity and decision making” Kacou said in an interview with The New Times.

The training, whose main goal is equipping young cadres with leadership skills and building their capacity to compete favourably while transforming their society, attracted participants from various companies and organizations, both in the private and public sector.

Present at the inauguration of the leadership training was different high profile officials who included Robert Bayigamba, chairman of Rwanda Private Sector Federation among others.
