Players Abroad: York shines in Gefle IF win

The majority of European league seasons came to a close with the exception of the Scandinavian leagues whose football calendar looks quite different.

Sweden is among countries whose football season is ongoing.

Rafael York was instrumental in Gefle IF’s victory over Oyster while Yannick Mukunzi and Lague Byiringiro started together for the first time as Sandviken lost 3-2.

Times Sport takes you through how Rwandan players fared abroad over the weekend.

Sweden

Midfielder Yannick Mukunzi and striker Lague Byiringiro both started as Sandviken IF lost 3-2 to Sollentuna at the Arena Jernvallen on Sunday. Mohammed Kouyate replaced Byiringiro in the 57th minute while Kevin Pacha came in for Mukunzi in the 70th minute.

Rafael York saw 73 minutes of action in Gefle IF 3-2 win over Oster on Saturday. His junior brother Torre Rafael was not in the match day squad of Gefle.

Elsewhere at the LF Arena, striker Kalebo Wimbabazi was an unused substitute for Pitea IF who drew 1-1 with Sylvia.

Norway

Ange Mutsinzi was dominant at the back for FK Jerv and played full throttle in their 1-0 win over Raufoss on Saturday.

Elsewhere in the third tier, Clement Twizere Buhake pulled a series of spectacular saves at the Strommen Stadium as Strommen IF beat Stjordals Blink 2-1.

Winger Emmanuel Baru Gisa came in for Marius Jacobsen in the 84th minute as his side Fram Larvik IF beat Brattvag 2-1.

20-year-old attacker Josias King Furaha was not in the match day squad of Flekkeroy IF who drew 0-0 with Egersunds.

Morocco

Emmanuel Imanishimwe's AS FAR Rabat who are leading the Moroccan Botola League will face OC Khouribga on Wednesday, June 14.

Tanzania

Veteran striker Meddie Kagere was in action for Singida Big Stars who drew 1-1 with Namungo FC.
