RWAMAGANA — The Secretary General (S.G) of the Ministry of Labour Marcelline Mukakarangwa opened a new technical institute, School of Champions, in Rwamagana district.

The school worth Frw350million was built with funding from the Presbyterian Church of Bellevue through African Evangelist Enterprise (AEE).

Rev. Pastor Onesphole Rwaje the speaker of AEE, Charles Gasana the Executive Secretary of Eastern Province and Valens Ntezirembo, the Mayor of Rwamagana witnessed the ceremony.

Promising government support, Mukakarangwa observed that the AEE’s mission conformed with the government’s vision of building skills development centres countrywide.

"The centre enjoys overwhelming support of the government because it conforms to government’s vision of establishing similar skills development centre in all districts," Mukakarangwa noted.

She explained that the government emphasises skills development due to their value in uplifting the wellbeing of the citizens.

"This centre is a unique one as it provides spiritual as well as physical training of our people according to what God wants them to be," she said.

She thanked AEE partners who sponsored the centre saying the facility would serve all Rwandans.

Gasana said that the centre would offer solution to different problems facing youth in the area. He promised strong cooperation to AEE in order to realise their dream of ending the problem of street children. The Mayor Ntezirembo echoed similar remarks, saying newly built facility would foster development in the region.

The centre is capable of receiving 600 pupils annually according to Rev. Antoine Rutayisire, the Secretary General of AEE. It has 20 classroom blocks, two dormitories; for male and female students, dining hall, office block, two houses for industrial training equipments and two houses for animators.

According to Rev. Rutayisire, the centre has so far recruited 150 pupils most of them former street children who are to attend rehabilitation courses in June before commencing studies later in July.

Pastor Ezekiel Rucema, the representative of AEE in the province said the centre would offer different technical courses including electricity, carpentry, building, mechanics, and plumbing among other things.
