Special Olympics: Rwanda to take part in 2023 World Summer Games

Rwanda will take part in the 2023 Special Olympics World Summer Games that will take place in Berlin, Germany from June 17-25.

The week-long event will see Rwanda competing in various disciplines as they hope to win laurels for the nation.

Rwanda will present a delegation of 15 athletes where seven of them will be in the women's football seven-a-side team.

Also, two athletes will feature in the game of Bocce which involves showcasing precision, strategic thinking, and exceptional hand-eye coordination.

The country will also be represented by three people in athletics where they will vie for honors in field and track events.

Deus Sangwa, the Chairman of Special Olympics Rwanda, highlighted that the global event will give his team a correct avenue to showcase their talent to the world of special olympics.

"The Special Olympics World Summer Games provides a remarkable platform for our athletes with disabilities to demonstrate their exceptional talents and inspire others with their determination and sportsmanship," Sangwa stated

"We are immensely proud of our delegation and believe they will make our nation proud as they compete against the best athletes from around the world."

The Special Olympics is a world event held every four years which unites athletes with intellectual disability from across the globe and it is aimed at promoting inclusion and celebrating the power of sports.
