Burundi VP meets Barundi community in Rwanda

GASABO - The visiting Burundi vice president, Yves Sahinguvu, Sunday met with the Barundi community living in Rwanda at Hotel Novotel Umubano. The meeting which attracted over 400 hundred Burundi nationals from various levels of the country, discussed various issues affecting the Barundi community Also present at the meeting was the Burundi Minister of Education, Jean-Jacques Niyirimigabo and Burundi’s Ambassador to Rwanda, Mr. Karonkano Serge. Karonkano  said that Burundi should not only be known for conflicts and he urged all Barundi in the Diaspora to participate in the solving of Burundi problems.

The visiting Burundi vice president, Yves Sahinguvu, Sunday met with the Barundi community living in Rwanda at Hotel Novotel Umubano.

The meeting which attracted over 400 hundred Burundi nationals from various levels of the country, discussed various issues affecting the Barundi community Also present at the meeting was the Burundi Minister of Education, Jean-Jacques Niyirimigabo and Burundi’s Ambassador to Rwanda, Mr. Karonkano Serge. 

Karonkano  said that Burundi should not only be known for conflicts and he urged all Barundi in the Diaspora to participate in the solving of Burundi problems.

The vice president highlighted the necessity of strengthening and maintaining bilateral ties between the two countries.

Among other issues that were raised, was the question of refugees, moves to sign a peace deal with the FNL- Parpehutu rebels, and efforts put to disarm demobilized soldiers.
