MUSANZE — Pupils of Bisate Primary School in Kinigi, Musanze district have received scholastic materials worth Frw11 million from United Kingdom Rotary Club- Hexham.

The club works with the Rotary Club of Kigali-Virunga. Chantal Murenzi, the vice president of Kigali Virunga Rotary Club handed over the donation that included text books of English, French and Kinyarawnda on Wednesday. Excited pupils dressed smartly in school uniform raised the books in the air and shouted in appreciation.

Addressing the pupils before handing over the items, Murenzi urged teachers to make better use of the books by cultivating a reading culture among pupils.

"There is need to explore in terms of reading and understanding, young adventurous pupils should be encouraged to read,’’ Murenzi urged the teachers.

The school was promoted by KARISOKE, gorilla research organisation that later linked it to the foreign Rotary club and the Kigali-based Rotary club; due to a long standing history of support rendered to the school by the organisation.

The former president of the Virunga Rotary Club Paul Masterjerg Birungi, called upon the pupils to form interact clubs aimed at doing charity activities.
