The Spirit of giving

It is greater to give than to receive, the Bible tells us so. Therefore, when we give we are not only making others happy but we are also being blessed. Sharing is a way of expressing love to others especially during this festive season. There are people out there who do not have so much as a grain of rice on their plate yet this is the time to be glad and celebrate. We should therefore make it a priority to give and share what we have with the less fortunate so as to spread the love to Rwandans as a whole.

Giving creates a positive impression like… at least someone cares about another especially when they are needy. There could be someone out there without food or shelter or clothes while another has all these in abundance. So why not share with each other?

Giving does not only mean giving tangible things. Even moral support would suffice because this gives them hope that the next day will be better and reason to live it.

Giving makes one feel cared for, so why not reach out to the street children, the orphans and survivors during this festive season and bless them with gifts. Share your lunch with them and give them that care that is absent in their lives. It gives them a sense of belonging.

We all need to love and be loved, so show that love to each other this festive season. Let someone out there find a reason for their existence and belonging. We should not only give or share with our relatives, neighbors or friends but rather with any person who truly needs it and is in our reach.

We should not give while expecting to receive but rather give whole-heartedly with the intention of putting a smile on someone’s face. Make someone’s day by simply sharing and being part of each their life.

Therefore let love and care fill the air this festive season by giving and sharing with each other.

Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year!
