The burial of the late popular artist Minani Rwema of the famous Sur la Terr e(on this earth) song is expected to take place on Friday 4, 2008 at a yet to be named venue, his widow Jacqueline Umulisa has said.

Speaking to The New Times yesterday, Umulisa said that there are requirements to fulfil before the corpse is allowed to be transported from India where he died after undergoing a liver transplant. This includes the death certificate and police authorization among others.

"We are expecting the body to arrive any time now, by the latest Thursday, and we shall probably bury him on Friday. We have not yet decided where the burial will take place,” Umulisa said as she struggled to compose herself.

Umulisa said that Minani’s niece, 23-year old Jean de Dieu Munyakazi  who offered part of his liver for transplant, was in a better health.

The 28-year old widow added that they still did not understand what took her husband’s life, who had had a successful liver transplant at the Amrita Hospital in India.

"My husband was humble, very social, he would sacrifice for anybody regardless of who is or where he came from, whether a friend or not. He was a really generous man, he loved his family. I am not saying this because he was my husband, that is what I had discovered in the five years we were married,” Umulisa said.

The last born in the family of eight children, Minani Rwema leaves behind two children; Agasaro Amelia who was born May 12, 2003 and Rwema Kevin who was born May 18, 2007.
