Teenagers’ role in a family

Several times teens think that home responsibilities are for parents and house-helps. We all know that parents play a big role in a teenager’s life when it comes to paying school fees, ensuring that the family is fed, sharing advice and love and protecting the family. However, teens too have a huge responsibility in the family. They have the next commander-in-chief rank after their parents and relatives.  It is always good to exercise minor authority and responsibility as a son or daughter at home.

Trust me, this will cultivate your character and actually make you a person who knows how to deal with situations or manage circumstances.

I understand there are some teens whose parents cannot allow them to do simple home activities because of different reasons. There are also those who are actually given a lot of work. Nevertheless, it’s generally ideal that a teen does some activities at home.

Here are a few points you can refer to and get to find a responsibility at home.

Studies: The most essential responsibility of a young person is to deliver results from school. This is why parents send you to school.

Go get good education; bring home the best grades. It’s basically your job at school. More so, you are expected to help your young ones at home with their homework or evening studies.

Discipline: This sounds more like a virtue, which parents should be imparting on you but your job is to maintain it. Stay behaved and also keep the young ones [if you got any] in good discipline. This will help you grow in a more dignified manner because you don’t want ruin your reputation and the trust of your parents.

Home activities: Have you ever tried making breakfast for the family on a weekend?  Well, I have but trust me; it is the most beautiful thing a parent would cheerfully experience. You can as well make the whole house and compound tidy.

Washing clothes, cars, et cetera are examples of things you can start with.

Lastly, it is also important for teenagers to enhance family relations by respecting and loving every relative. Many times, children are the bond between breaking family relations. So, stand up and stand in. There is a lot your family needs from you.
