Ruterana toils in Uganda

Rwanda’s top golfer Emmanuel Ruterana finished 7th at the week-long UGC centennial professional Golf tournament which winded up on Thursday at Uganda’s Kitante Golf Course.

Rwanda’s top golfer Emmanuel Ruterana finished 7th at the week-long UGC centennial professional Golf tournament which winded up on Thursday at Uganda’s Kitante Golf Course.

The BCR sponsored golfer who was far from his best finished off with a grand score of 228, eleven strokes behind eventual champion David Odhiambo from Kenya.

Odhiambo who got off to a dismal start with 80 - seven strokes off the pace, shot 69 on day two and 68 on the final day to win the 54-hole event with an aggregate of 217.
The Ugandan pair of Denis Anguyo and Akope tied in second spot while Stephen Birungi finished fourth.

"I struggled alot throughout the three days because I went into the tournament without playing competitive golf for the last two-three weeks,” Ruterana explained.
The Ultimate Security sponsored event boasted of Shs6m (approx. Frw2m) worth of cash prize.

Meanwhile, the two-day Centennial event which will be the climax of the week-long UGC celebrations teed off yesterday with over 200 golfers from Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Malawi and Zambia.
