While growing in another country, it was so scary and almost impossible for one to mention that we were Rwandan. It was because of the ridicule and bullying faced by being known as a Rwandan. The classmates would always make fun of you, call you a refugee and remind you of how you don’t belong to their country. Some would poke fun at Rwandan students saying that they hid in the belly of the fish to transport them to other countries since Rwandans were poor.

Some children would even change their names just so others don’t get to know that he/she is Rwandan. They were not proud to be Rwandans. If they were, it was supposed to be hidden in their hearts so as to avoid being mocked.
Today, there are more than a million and one things that should make one proud to be Rwandan. It should be written all over us that we are proudly Rwandan. Other people even lie that they are Rwandan when they are actually not. It’s because they admire Rwanda.
Rwanda is praised and used as an example in so many areas such as development, technology, cleanliness, the thousands of hills the country is blessed with and of course the beautiful people.
It would take us forever to mention the many great things Rwanda is endowed with. We ought to be proud of being Rwandan and should not be afraid to let the whole world know!
