Motortaxi operators urged to fight smuggling

NYAGATARE-Motorcycle taxi operators in Nyagatare have been urged to embrace government programmes and develop the country.

The call was made Tuesday, during a ceremony to hand uniforms to members of Ferwacotamo, a motorcycle taxi cooperative in Nyagatare District.

The uniforms were donated by telecoms firm Tigo Rwanda.Obes Nkundimana, who represented the district mayor at the ceremony, called on motor cycle operators in the district to work together and transform the district.

He challenged them to pay taxes on time and fight smuggling of illicit drugs.

"If you heed this call, nothing can stop you from developing rapidly. You should strive to be exemplary in fighting illicit drugs,” he said.
 
Dieudonne Nteziryayo, the national head of motorcycle taxi operators told his members to adopt the culture of cleanliness and strive to transform their welfare.

Wellalis Bimenyimana, a motorcyclist from Karama sector said that they would help security authorities in fighting smuggling of illicit drugs.
