A total of 15 teams, men and women, will compete at the 2023 Heroes Day handball tournament, scheduled February 4-5, in Gicumbi District.

They include 10 teams in men’s category while five will be represented in women’s category.

Police and Kiziguro will be looking to defend their titles in the respective categories.

On agenda, Rwanda Handball Federation (FERWAHAND) secretary-general, Pascal Tuyisenge told Times Sport that the ‘top three teams’ from each category will be awarded.

Vision JN (men) and Gicumbi (women) are notable absentees at this year’s edition after they pulled out of the competition.

Confirmed participants:

Men: Gicumbi, ES Kigoma, UR-Huye, ADEGI, ST. Martin Hanika, Police, APR, Nyakabanda HC, UR-Rukara and TTC de la Salle.

Women: Kiziguro Secondary School, Three Stars, Teacher Training Centre De La Salle, UR-Huye and UR-Rukara
