If you are a regular listener to local FM stations, you may have been drawn to locally produced Hip Hop music budding in Rwanda.

The young generation makes us appreciate the fact that Hip Hop is not only made in USA or other western countries but also in Africa. Mc Mahoniboni is one of the young stars with extra-ordinary talent in keeping Hip Hop music live in Rwanda.

"Though Rwanda has lagged behind in as far as entertainment industry is concerned, Rwandan audience has shown great interest in listening to Hip Hop music and so I decided to pick on the style but in Kinyarwanda to give my message in a language many understand," Mc Mahoniboni told The New Times.

Mc Mahoniboni says he wants to make Hip Hop music live in Rwanda and his desire is to support his fellow artistes.

The 28 year old rap star intends to sell Rwanda’s new image using his talent.

"Artistes are the first category of people that can sell any nation’s image easily, almost everybody in the world knows USA largely because of their film and music stars, when we shoot videos and put them on market, we are definitely selling the image of Rwanda too," Mc Mahoniboni proudly added.

He has so far released five singles with a solo career.

He has also featured in other three songs by Daddy Casanova and DMS who is also another up coming rap star.

Mc Mahoniboni’s real name is Bievenue Mahoro Rugande, born to Silas Rugande and Josephine Nyiransengimana in a family of two boys and two girls.

Mc Mahoniboni started singing in 1999 and first released his single titled ‘Malariya n’indwara y’icyorezo kandi yica’(Malaria is an epidemic disease that kills).

The malaria song was bought by Ministry of Health in 2000 to be used in its Malaria campaigns then.

His message usually dwells on love and development.

"I sing about my own life experience, what I see and what happens to others," Mc Mahonoboni said.

The Hip Hop star has released his video and gospel song. ‘Dusenge’ and another one in pipeline titled Kubaka Izina.
