The 2022/23 national Sitball championship edges closer to its climax with 10 teams, including five each from men and women categories, now qualified for the final phase slated for April 1, in Nyarugenge District.

Organised by the National Paralympic Committee (NPC), this year’s tournament brought together 20 teams including 10 from each of men and women categories.

The finalists booked the tickets to the finals after putting up impressive performances during the semi-finals held at Bugesera stadium over the weekend.

Musanze women and their brothers remain the teams to watch ahead of the finals, having finished top of their respective logs.

The women’s team set a record to become the only team that never lost a single game during the semifinals to progress to the finals with a 100 percent winning record from nine games.

They were joined in the finals by second-placed Rutsiro while Karongi, Rulindo and Gisagara completed the top five.

In the men’s category, Musanze men also finished top of the table with 23 points after winning seven of their nine fixtures.

They came ahead of Rutsiro who came second just on goal difference while Karongi, Rulindo and Gisagara complete the top five which will decide the champions in April.

The teams will play between them and one with the win ratio will be crowned champions.
