This week standard six and senior three exam results were published in primary schools throughout the country. It is a good time to stop and think how exam results ought best to be received.

There will be those of you who have done well, perhaps better than you thought. Well done! Exams are never easy and you should be happy.

However, while time ought to be made to celebrate your success, remember that the hard work is not over yet. There will be some among you who are sorely disappointed with the marks you received.

Take time to think about what went wrong. Ask advice from your family and teachers. However, do not be too disheartened; what is important is that you tried your best. You will have a chance to shine again.

Be sure to learn from your mistakes; and you will not experience the same disappointment next time. There will also be some who did not try as hard as you should have. You will have received you marks without interest, without pride.

Remember that school is for your own good and every effort you make now will be repaid in the future. If you did not put your all into these exams, take this opportunity to promise to yourself that next time you will try harder. To all of you, make the most of school this year.
