KAYONZA - district authorities have revealed that they have earmarked over Rwf200 million for roads development, maintenance and beautification of Kayonza town centre.

Part of the facelift entails a 2 kilometre road network upgrade whose works is currently ongoing. Talking to The New Times, yesterday, Danilo Ntebutsi, the district director of planning, monitoring and evaluation said that facelift for Kayonza town  was part of the larger district master plan.

"This is the first step towards actualizing the master plan. Next on course will be other elements such as elaborating on the planned industrial area parking as well as other physical works.”

Moses Karangwa a businessman in Kayonza town welcomed the moves by district authorities.

"The move by the local authorities is good for us residents. The facelift is a very welcome move. I must add that we are happy with what authorities are doing,” he said.

However, while some residents are lauding the moves by local authorities some sections of residents who have been adversely affected by the road works are not entirely happy. Such affected residents are saying that they have not been compensated as promised by authorities.
