Kabarebe to oversee Rubavu district

The Defence Minister, Gen. James Kabarebe took over from the Minister of Infrastructure, Vincent Karega as the new overseer of Rubavu District , at a colourful ceremony that took place at Rwanda Tourism University premises in Rubavu, last Sunday.

The Defence Minister, Gen. James Kabarebe took over from the Minister of Infrastructure, Vincent Karega as the new overseer of Rubavu District , at a colourful ceremony that took place at Rwanda Tourism University premises in Rubavu, last Sunday.

Kabarebe, will hold the position for one year.
Calling for team work, the Defence Minister said he would ensure that as part of his advocacy role he will ensure that local leaders rise up to do what is in the interest of area residents.

"When we work together, I am convinced that we shall do a lot of work that will assist residents to transform their livelihoods,” Gen Kabarebe said.

"For instance, I have heard that you need a modern hospital. We shall join hands together and with support from  the health ministry it is my firm belief that such a dream can come true,” he added.

Minister Karega, urged Rubavu residents to accord support to his successor for the sake of rapidly developing the district.

"Gen Kabarebe is a man of integrity with the sense of patriotism in this country. So, take advantage of his reputation to develop this area,” Karega, who will now oversee development of Huye district, said.
At the same function, the district master plan was unveiled.

Western Province Governor, Celestin Kabahizi thanked Karega for his efforts which he said had accelerated development in Rubavu.
