Gasogi United chairman and proprietor Charles Nkuriza Kakooza, commonly known as KNC, has warned rivals that his club has no plan to give up on the league title and is rather ready to fight until the last day.

The club has been in fine form during the first round of Rwanda Premier League where they finished fourth with 28 points, level on points with APR and Rayon Sports and two points adrift of leaders AS Kigali and SC Kiyovu.

Gasogi’s confidence to fight for the league title has been growing day after day and mtch after match. The club has established itself as a dark horse before big teams as they managed to beat Kiyovu 3-1, Police 2-0 and Rayon 1-0 while they held APR to a goalless draw.

AS Kigali are the only team to have beaten Gasogi through Shabani Hussein Tshabalala’s strike in open play.

Gasogi’s next five fixtures include SC Kiyovu, whom they beat 3-1 in first leg, Sunrise, Gorilla FC, Rutsiro and Rayon Sports and KNC who, in his nature, is a man of mind games, wants his men to win five opening matches, when the league returns on January 20, and let fate decide their destiny as far as the league title is concerned.

"We will go out there and fight for points in every match, especially in the upcoming five fixtures. That's what we have to do and that's what we will do. A fourth place is not an achievement that a team chasing the title should be happy for. We are just thinking about winning more matches,” he told Times Sport.

"Mathematically it is possible for us to win the title. We are firmly focused on winning the next five matches to see what happens and it is a must for us to do that. We still have a chance and we must fight until the end,” he added.

Gasogi United was founded in 2016. The team was promoted to the top flight league in 2019 after defeating Sorwathe 2-1 on aggregate in the semifinals. That marked the beginning of the journey to a terrain in which they have now become a force to reckon with.

Winning a silverware has been KNC’s dream since the club’s inception. He always wants to see his team improving and always maximize or perform beyond people’s expectations.

"We're talking about building that winning mentality. I always tell my team that Gasogi will in the future win trophies. I encourage them to keep going, pushing, believing and respecting the way you play and that's the most important thing. The message for us is to keep pushing, winning games...that's our job” KNC said
