Zimbabwe's Handball Federation secretary general Edson Chirowodza is convinced of the threat Rwanda could pose to his side when the pair face off at the forthcoming African junior handball competition.

Zimbabwe are pooled in the same group with Rwanda, Nigeria, and Madagascar ahead of the continental tournament which will take place in Brazzaville from January 16-20 in.

"I know Rwanda, they have been doing well. Madagascar, we have met before, they were in Zambia. I am not sure about the performance of Nigeria." Chirowodza told the Zimbabwean media before the team left for camp.

Five nations namely Burundi, Congo, Guinea, Nigeria and Zambia will compete in the youth category whereas Rwanda, Congo, Guinea, Madagascar, Nigeria, and Zimbabwe are the six teams that will battle for supremacy at the junior stage.

Rwanda booked their ticket for the tournament after eliminating Djibouti in Zone V of the qualifiers in October 2022.
