Police impound another vehicle with illicit drugs

NYAGATARE - Police in Nyagatare district, last Saturday, seized another vehicle carrying illicit drugs in Matimba sector. This is the third vehicle with drugs to be impounded by Police in Nyagatare in recent days. Earlier, an ambulance and a pick-up truck were impounded.

NYAGATARE - Police in Nyagatare district, last Saturday, seized another vehicle carrying illicit drugs in Matimba sector.

This is the third vehicle with drugs to be impounded by Police in Nyagatare in recent days. Earlier, an ambulance and a pick-up truck were impounded. 

The commuter taxi Reg. No. RAA 787R was impounded in the wee hours with 78 cartons of Suzie-a local brew made from Uganda and four jerry cans of  local gin commonly known as ‘kanyanga’ being loaded.

Police said that the owners had used a porous border.
‘We were carrying out night patrols when we discovered a commuter taxi parked in a dark spot near Kagitumba border. We approached and found it being loaded,’ said Police.

The driver, who was only identified as Bugingo escaped immediately and is still on the run, according to Police.
‘All suspects who were loading the vehicle escaped including the driver, and they are on the run,’ he said.
