GICUMBI - A homeless woman, Claudine Uwayezu, who recently camped at Gicumbi Mayor Bonane Nyangezi’s office demanding for a solution to her problems, is set to get a free house. Uwayezu, 35; a resident of Kaniga Sector, for two days camped with her two children at Nyangezi’s office- claiming that her husband Slyvestre Ndahabatware had sold a family house and married another woman, leaving her homeless.
GICUMBI - A homeless woman, Claudine Uwayezu, who recently camped at Gicumbi Mayor Bonane Nyangezi’s office demanding for a solution to her problems, is set to get a free house.
Uwayezu, 35; a resident of Kaniga Sector, for two days camped with her two children at Nyangezi’s office- claiming that her husband Slyvestre Ndahabatware had sold a family house and married another woman, leaving her homeless.
She had a letter from the Minister of state for Local government, Christine Nyatanyi, asking the Mayor to address her plight.
A local leaders’ meeting convened on June 22, resolved that the district will construct a house for Uwayezu not later than August.
The meeting was attended by Governor Aime Bosenibamwe, Mayor Nyangezi, the district vice Mayor for Social Affairs, Eugenie Uwamahoro and the district Notary Jean Bosco Karanganwa.
During the meeting, it was also resolved that the district rents a house for her for two months, with effect from June 22.Uwayezu is also to be provided with an allowance of Rwf30,000 for her feeding needs.
"The district will construct a house for the lady through community work (Umuganda),” said Jean Bosco Karanganwa.
