NYAGATARE – Residents of Kiyombe sector in Nyagatare district have boosted the cattle stocking programme by raising Rwf 2.6 million to complement the initiative which was started by government.

"It is one of our main targets that by the end of this year, every family in our sector owns a cow as part of implementing this programme initiated by government,” the Sector Executive Secretary, Emmanuel Mwumvaneza, said.

"Our residents are committed to implement government’s programmes… that is why they have, through cooperatives, managed to raise funds to help needy families get cows.”

Kiyombe sector has been on the forefront in implementing government’s programmes in the district, Mwumveneza added.

Recently, the sector was recognised as leading in getting rid of grass thatched houses in the country, and championing sector savings and credit cooperatives.
