MUSANZE - Governor of Northern Province, Aimé Bosenibamwe, has advised residents to demand for accountability in terms of service delivery from local authorities.

Bosenibamwe, who spent Wednesday in Ubworoherane stadium, Musanze, addressing problems raised by residents, said that residents should exercise their rights to demand to be served.

‘’There should be no more gap between leaders and residents, the authorities are servants who should be held accountable for whatever goes wrong,’’ Bosenibamwe said.

The governor warned residents against entertaining negative propaganda being peddled by certain individuals he did not name. He instead urged them to concentrate on economic activities.

80 percent of problems raised were related to land wrangles, pending court cases, domestic disputes and administrative matters which the Sector Executive Secretaries had failed to address.

Some residents presented disputes of a legal nature, which were referred to the courts of law, while others complained that local leaders had been biased in settling their problems.

The District Mayor, Winifrida Mpembyemungu, challenged the residents to assess their contribution in terms of development and urged them to draw their development plans for the years ahead.

The meeting was attended by various heads of security organs and all Sector Executive Secretaries.
