NYABIHU - At least two people were injured when a mini bus vehicle with 17 people on board, hit a pavement and over turned after colliding with a speeding pick-up truck.
The accident occurred at 7 am, near Mukamira town, in Nyabihu district on Monday.

Eye witnesses said the mini bus, heading to Musanze from Rubavu, tried to avoid a head on collision with the pick-up truck which was approaching from the opposite direction, before losing control.

Several passengers sustained minor injuries.
The driver of the mini bus, Desire Nzahumunyurwa, who was pulled out of the vehicle through a window, blamed the accident on the truck driver.

However, speaking to The New Times, immediately after the accident, the survivors blamed both drivers for over speeding, and appealed to Police to investigate the cause of the accident.

"This is a flat area, there was no cause to overtake without assessing the road ahead which is what both drivers failed to do,” Alphonse Nizeyimana, who sustained injuries on the arm said.
