AFTER a week of rigorous training, Amavubi Stars head coach Sellas Tetteh believes the team is in the right frame of mind for today’s do or die Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier against Tanzania’s Taifa Stars.

The teams settled for a 1-all draw in the first leg held on May 1 in Dar es Salaam and the Ghanaian tactician now reckons his guns can build on that performance.

"We have had a successful training stint and I hope that by God’s grace, we are going to win the tie and qualify the country to next year’s CHAN finals,” Tetteh said.

Tetteh is expected to rely on Emmanuel Crespo Sebanani and Daddy Birori upfront following the absence of Roger Tchouassi who sustained a shoulder injury early this week.
Exactly one year ago, Amavubi lost to Tanzania 2-1 during the friendly played in Kigali but the Wasps earned their revenge during last year’s Cecafa Challenge Cup in Nairobi, Kenya when they dumped Tanzania out of the competition after a 2-1 win.

The match will be handled by Djibouti’s trio of Ali Farah Mohamed, Ali Mohamed Abdo and Moussa Rirache.
The winners will join hosts Sudan, holders DRC, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Mali, Senegal, Algeria, Cameroon, Gabon and Niger.

The tournament will be staged in Sudan from February 4-25. Amavubi Stars are at pains to qualify for the biannual event, which they missed the last time out in Abidjan after they were knocked out by Sudan, the 2011 CHAN hosts.
