Rwanda was selected as the global host of the World Environment Day celebrations. One of the reasons for this achievement is the country’s community work policy, ‘Umuganda’ that takes place every last Saturday of the month.

The New Times’ LINDA MBABAZI spoke to some Rwandans about their environment.

"The one thing that really annoys me is when I see people throwing trash and spitting everywhere, as if they really don’t mind about having a clean environment. My role in saving the environment is to ensure that I don’t dump garbage anywhere except in waste bins where its meant to be dumped.”
