Road accident claims two, three injured

GICUMBI - A Fuso truck registration number UAJ 108B, carrying dry  fish ‘Indagara’ enroute to Kigali from Masaka-Uganda  on Monday evening got involved in a fatal accident which claimed two lives on the spot and left three others injured seriously.

GICUMBI - A Fuso truck registration number UAJ 108B, carrying dry  fish ‘Indagara’ enroute to Kigali from Masaka-Uganda  on Monday evening got involved in a fatal accident which claimed two lives on the spot and left three others injured seriously.

The accident took place at Kigoma trading center, about 45 km along Kigali- Gatuna highway.  

The dead were identified as Edward Rutanga, the owner of the goods’ truck and a policeman Sgt Emmanuel Gasana.  
The driver of the truck only identified as Muraro and two turn boys sustained serious injuries and were admitted at Byumba Hospital. 

Byumba Police say, the truck lost control and overturned several times after incurring serous mechanical problems. 
"One of our policemen who had asked for a lift to his work post at Gaseke trading center was seated at the front seat with the owner of the truck and goods, when the fatal accident occurred,” said the Police source. 

By press time, the truck and its contents were still being guarded by security personnel and relatives of the truck’s owner.
