Jasat Mehboob was in sensational form last Sunday as he helped Kigali Cricket Club to run over top contenders Challengers in the final of the inaugural MM Industries 20/20 tournament at Kicukiro oval.

The captain led from the front with a brisk 41 runs and a haul of three wickets to guide KCC to a seven wicket victory against the pre-final favorites.

After losing the toss, Challengers were bowled out for a paltry score of 108 runs in 19 overs.

Tandor Rizwan and Mehboob combined well at the top of KCC’s bowling attack to run through Challengers’ top order.

The pair picked six wickets to leave the Utexrwa champions hapless. In reply, KCC chased down the score for the loss of just three wickets and with two overs to spare.  KCC never looked at losing as an option with middle order batsman Mehboob looking in fine form.

Besides lifting the trophy, KCC also dominated the prize giving ceremony. Rizwan Tandor was recognized as the best batsman and Jasat Mohammed as the top bowler. However, Challengers did not go away empty handed. Mohammed Ferooz scooped the man-of-the series award.

"It was a great way to end the year. We had not won anything this year,” Mehboob said.
Challengers’ captain Srinath Vardhineni also credited KCC’s effort. "They were outstanding and deserved to win.

MM Industries who were the official sponsors of the twelve-week tournament are a manufacturing plant for toilet paper and paper bags.
