Etincelles 1-1 APR FC

Sumaila Moro deprived APR of a vital draw as Etincelles snatched a dramatic late equalizer against the military side at Umuganda Stadium to maintain their impressive league campaign this season.

The Ghanaian attacker leveled for the Rubavu-based with only 19 minutes of normal time left to play to deny the victory for the visitors.

Yannick Bizimana gave the military side the lead after 27 minutes of the game as he converted the cross from Ramadhan Niyibizi’s well-taken corner.

APR were leading the game until the 71st when Moro jumped high to head in Amani Rutayisire’s cross to equalize the scores and help his side earn a point.

Radjab Bizumuremyi’s side kept APR at bay for the remainder of the game and instead pushed for a winner through the likes of Ciza Hussein Mugabo, Sulaiman Mudeyi and Sadjati Niyonkuru but the visitors remained cautious and avoided to concede another goal.

The draw saw the military side move second on the league table level with Rayon Sports who will face Gasogi United on Friday at Kigali Stadium.

Meanwhile, Etincelles finish the first round of the league sitting seventh on the table with 23 points and are only separated by sixth-placed Mukura (23 points) on goal difference.
