Rwandan peacekeepers serving in missions abroad marked the 32nd anniversary of Liberation Day (Kwibohora32) on Saturday, July 4.

The events highlighted Rwanda’s transformation journey since 1994 and the role of its security organs in promoting peace and stability beyond its borders, while honouring the Rwanda Patriotic Army (RPA) for stopping the Genocide against the Tutsi and liberating the country.
Mozambique
Rwanda Security Forces (RSF) together with members of the Rwandan community in Cabo Delgado, Mozambican security forces and government officials, marked the anniversary at RSF Headquarters in Mocímboa da Praia.

Brig Gen Cooper Mike Mujuni, RSF Joint Task Force Commander, described Liberation Day as a symbol of Rwanda’s rebirth and paid tribute to those who liberated the country, urging personnel to remain committed to the country&039;s vision of peace and stability.
Mozambican municipal leader Helena Bandeila commended RSF for professionalism and contribution to restoring security in Cabo Delgado.

The event concluded with a friendly football match between RSF and Mozambican armed forces, with RSF winning 3–1.
South Sudan
In Juba, Rwandan peacekeepers under the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), together with members of the Rwandan community and South Sudanese officials, gathered to celebrate Liberation Day.

The event brought together personnel from RWANBATT-3, RWANBATT-1 and the Rwanda Formed Police Unit.
Col Charles Rutayisire, the Deputy Chief of Staff in Charge of Logistics Support at UNMISS, said Rwanda’s liberation laid the foundation for national transformation.
"Rwanda’s liberation was not only a military achievement but also the foundation of the country’s broader national transformation,” he said.
He noted that the past 32 years have been marked by remarkable progress in national unity and reconciliation, good governance, peacebuilding, healthcare, education, infrastructure development, technology, environmental protection, women's empowerment, and economic growth.
Rutayisire emphasised that the spirit of liberation lives on through sustained socio-economic development, patriotism, and every citizen's commitment to nation-building.
William Ngabonziza, chairperson of the Rwandan Community in South Sudan, expressed deep appreciation to the RPA for their courage, sacrifice, and determination in liberating Rwanda.
He called on all Rwandans living abroad to promote unity, preserve Rwandan values, and contribute to the country's development.
