RWAMAGANA – About 22 land legal advisors from various districts of the country were on Monday sworn in by the Minister of Justice, Tharcisse Karugarama. 

Addressing the new officers, the minister warned them against involving in corruption tendencies.  

"Your new office is full of temptations, so uphold your oath, otherwise the law will not spare you,” he said. 

The minister added that the newly sworn officials should not take people they serve for granted , since the service they  are expected to offer is not a privilege, but should be taken as a right. 

The Minister of Environment and Lands, Stanislas Kamanzi, advised the legal advisors to handle land issues with caution.

He however, lamented that previously the management of land issues by some officials has been regrettable. 

"Rwandans are not happy with the way land issues were managed in the past .It is high time the land office started operating responsibly,” he said. 

The new advisors will be trained by a team of experts from the Institute of Legal Practice and Development (ILDP) for 5 days in Rwamagana. 

Oswald Tuyisenge, an official working with ILPD   said that the institute would offer the legal advisors the required skills to enable them implement the existing land law.
