GICUMBI – The Ministry of Health last week handed over rewards to Rubaya sector mothers under the Vision Umurenge Program (VUP) for respecting health guidelines on antenatal care. The awards were channeled through Rubaya Health Center.

Delivering the prizes, the Rubaya Sector Executive Secretary, Alexander Nvuyekure hailed the beneficiaries for their effort to use recommended medical guidelines.

"It is only one mother who delivered without recommended medical assistance in the entire sector, since July last year. This is laudable,” said Nvuyekure.

He also urged mothers to practice family planning so as to produce children they are able to educate and care for.

"Family planning also enables government to plan for its population in terms of essential social amenities such as education, health care and infrastructure development,” he added.

"I am extremely happy to receive these presents and shall advise other pregnant mothers to follow the ministry’s guidelines, during pregnancy and delivery,” said one of the mothers Claudine Mukayisenga.
