RwandAir has announced a partnership with Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment to expand the Nigeria–East and Southern Africa air cargo corridor.

The collaboration will open new export routes from Nigeria to Kigali, Lusaka and Harare, while strengthening connectivity to key hubs such as Nairobi and Johannesburg through its existing network, according to the statement issued by RwandAir on Saturday, June 20.
The airline said the initiative is aimed at enhancing cargo movement across the continent, improving trade efficiency and supporting intra-African commerce under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) framework.

Rwanda and Nigeria have had aviation cooperation for years, including a 2018 agreement signed in Kigali to boost air transport and strengthen connectivity between the two countries, paving the way for expanded passenger and cargo operations.
