Rwanda strengthened its bid for a place in the Kwibuka Women's T20 Tournament final with a convincing 58-run victory over Brazil on Sunday at Gahanga Cricket Stadium Oval B.
Batting first, Rwanda posted an imposing 179/6 in 20 overs, their highest total of the tournament so far. The hosts were powered by Fanny Utagushimaninde, who scored 45 off 40 balls, and Georgette Ingabire, whose explosive 45 from 29 deliveries included nine boundaries.
Gisele Ishimwe also made a valuable contribution with 36 off 24 balls, striking at 150.

Brazil’s reply was led by Lindsay Boas, who top-scored with 46 off 43 balls, including seven fours, while Laura Agatha added 15 from 11 deliveries. However, Rwanda’s bowlers kept taking wickets at crucial moments to prevent any serious comeback.
The standout performer was Henriette Ishimwe, who claimed four wickets for 23 runs in four overs and was deservedly named Player of the Match. Rwanda eventually bowled Brazil out for 121 in 19.3 overs.
The victory gives Rwanda a third win in four matches, while Brazil suffered its second defeat of the tournament. With Zimbabwe HPC also among the frontrunners, the race for the final remains tightly contested as the competition enters its decisive stage.
