The victory marks Rwanda fifth consecutive win of the tournament after earlier victories against Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Kenya, and Mali. With two matches remaining, the qualification race is entering its decisive stage. Friday clash between Botswana and Kenya could completely reshape the standings. Kenya will likely need a victory to keep qualification hopes alive, while Botswana could place itself in a very strong position ahead of the final day. Rwanda will now face Botswana in a match already being seen as one of the biggest encounters of the tournament.
