Nigeria’s Wasi Adeshina will be looking to put on a show before his home crowd when he fights Spain’s Ignacio Nacho Campos in the main event of the Professional Fighters League (PFL) Africa which is officially making its debut in Lagos, Nigeria, on Saturday, June 13.
The pair’s Featherweight Showcase matchup headlines the fight card of the 2026 PFL Africa Nigeria-First Round event which takes place at Eko Convention Center in Lagos, with bouts beginning at 6:00pm East Africa Time (7:00pm Kigali Time).
Nicknamed "The Nigerian Jaguar,” Adeshina (10−3) returns to the cage looking to extend his record after winning the 2025 PFL Africa championship, beating Cameroon’s Alain Majorique in the finals held in Cotonou, Benin, in December 2025.
He, however, has a tough opponent in Campos who lost just twice in his last nine bouts (7-2).
Campos said he is only built to fight the best and looks forward to enjoying fighting reigning PFL Africa champion Adeshina.
" I don't fight anyone, I didn’t come here to fight anyone, I just came here to fight a champion,” Campos said in a pre-fight press conference.
" He (Adeshina) is a really good man, but when the cage is closed...man, it’s going to be good.”
After winning the PFL Africa title away from home, Adeshina is optimistic that the home support can push him to get the job done against his Spanish rival in what will be their first MMA fight.
"I am very excited for the home fans to cheer for me because I know what that’s like. I’ve been fighting in enemy’s territory, so being home and supporting my home soil means a lot but the feelings and emotions are totally out of the window,” he said.
The PFL Africa debuts in Nigeria at a time PFL continues its ambitious drive to expand the league across the continent. Previous events took place in Johannesburg and Pretoria in South Africa, Kigali, Rwanda, and Cotonou, Benin.
"It is critical if you came to Africa and forget about Nigeria because, sports-wise, Nigeria is one of the leaders across the continent,” said PFL Africa General Manager Elias Schulze.
The co-main event is also locked in, with Nigeria’s Patrick Ocheme (8−1) and Cameroon’s Octave Ayinda (7−1) stepping on the scale ahead of their Lightweight Tournament First Round bout.
