Rayon Sports have confirmed that defenders Emery Bayisenge, Ramazani Tshimanga, and Youssou Diagne will not continue with the club ahead of the new season, as the local giants press ahead with a major squad rebuild.
Times Sport understands than the team is expected to change nearly 70 percent of their squad compared to last season.
Club spokesperson Olivier Gakwaya said that head coach Francis Haringingo and Technical Director Dylan Lienart advised the club that last season’s squad lacked balance in defence, particularly the absence of a natural left-sided defender.
This assessment led to the recruitment of Charles Tchouplaou, a Chad national team defender. He recently featured for South African side Casric Stars. He also previously played for CR Bernoussi in Morocco and Colombe Sport and APEJES FC in Cameroon.
He becomes the third centre-back signed this transfer window after Abbel Matumona Wakonda Kanda from Amagaju FC and Didier Nshuti from Gorilla FC.
The Rayon technical team also pointed out that the goalkeeper’s strong performances were crucial during last season’s play-offs, helping Rayon Sports concede fewer goals at a decisive stage of the campaign.
The New additions signal further exits in defence, with Chris Rushema, who has one year left on his contract, also facing an uncertain future.
Rayon Sports have additionally reinforced their midfield with the signing of Didier Ndayishimiye from AS Kigali, underlining the club’s determination to build a stronger and more competitive team for the upcoming season.
Meanwhile, after four remarkable years in Blue and White, Elie Ganijuru decided to continue his journey with the club that helped shape his career.
"We are delighted to announce that Ganijuru Elie has extended his stay at Rayon Sports and will remain with us for the next two years," the club announced.
In addition, after spending two successful years with the club, Emmanuel Nshimiyimana also decided to continue his journey with the club.
