No more foreign headliners at East African Party, organisers

Renowned event organisers, East African Promoters (EAP), have confirmed that only local artistes will feature on the lineup for the forthcoming New Year’s East African Party slated January 1, after announcing that they will not be inviting a foreign artist to headline the East African Party concert .

The company CEO Joseph Mushyoma said that they are considering switching to ‘only Rwandan artists’ lineup because, "It time to believe in our artists and give credit to the work they do in music. They’re fighting a tough battle to prove that their music can only get better and I think it’s time to join them and support them in a way or another because we are part of this journey”

Mushyoma said that artists will get the stage on merit and only their music will speak for them.

The new move takes effect beginning with the forthcoming East African Party slated for January 1, 2023 where the concert features only a Rwandan artists’ lineup.

"We will introduce criteria that we will refer to while selecting artistes that will perform at our concerts,” Mushyoma said.

"We didn’t get enough time to look into everything while selecting the lineup for the East African Party 2023 but the lineup is totally composed of Rwandan artists,” he added.

Mushyoma said the next editions of East African Party will involve only Rwandan artists who have been outstanding throughout the year.

That means, he said, artists who will have their music trending the most throughout the year will be featured on the lineup ...and the selection of the lineup will be far from sentimental.
