APR’s handball coach Vienne Munyangondo was quick to question Olivier Umutangana’s ability to handle ‘top level’ games after his side’s surprising 22-27 loss to the revitalized Kigali Institute of Education (KIE) side on Sunday.

Munyangondo accused Umutangana of getting overwhelmed by the intensity of the game.

"The refereeing left a lot to be desired. It was clear that he had taken sometime without refereeing,” Munyangondo said of Umutangana.

Going into the break a goal down (14-15), the reigning champions APR thought they would launch a second half resurgence but to their dismay, KIE asserted their dominance with a 12-8 second hold score to go top of the league table.

APR’s captain Feleste Hakizimana also conceded that for most parts of the game, they struggled to fill the void left by winger Eric Kamena, Janvier Mushinzimana and the experienced Francois Ngarambe, who is now a coach - player at KIE.
