Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) and Police Volleyball Club were crowned champions of the inaugural Climate Action Volleyball Tournament on Saturday after winning two thrilling finals that went the distance at Gisagara Gymnasium.
In the men’s final, Police VC produced a remarkable comeback to defeat Rwanda Energy Group (REG VC) 3-2 (19-25, 18-25, 25-23, 25-22, 15-11) and claim the title after trailing by two sets.
REG started strongly, taking control of the opening set 25-19 through sharp attacking combinations and disciplined defending that kept Police under constant pressure. The electricity side maintained its momentum in the second set, winning 25-18 as Police struggled to capitalize on crucial points during key rallies.

However, Police VC, coached by Fred Musoni, responded impressively in the third set. Improved reception and more effective blocking helped them edge the set 25-23 and keep their hopes alive. The momentum continued to shift in the fourth set, with the law enforcers holding their nerve in tense exchanges to secure a 25-22 victory and level the match at 2-2.
In the decisive fifth set, Police carried their resurgence into the final stretch, dominating the closing stages to seal a 15-11 win and lift the men’s title.
The women’s final was equally dramatic, as RRA WVC overcame Police WVC in another five-set thriller, winning 3-2 (26-24, 25-22, 15-25, 23-25, 15-11) to claim the women’s crown.
RRA made a strong start by taking the opening two sets, but Police fought back with determination, winning the next two to force a deciding set. In the end, the tax collectors held their composure when it mattered most, closing out the fifth set 15-11 to secure the championship.
