REG VC were crowned 2025/26 National Volleyball League champions after defeating Police VC 3-0 (25-22, 25-14, 25-23) in the decisive Game 5 of the finals on Sunday, May 17, at Petit Stade. Ugandan coach Benon Mugisha marked a historic return by guiding REG back to league glory in his comeback season, securing another national title. REG showed composure and confidence in the opening set, recovering strongly from previous setbacks to edge Police VC 25-22. In the second set, Coach Mugisha made a key tactical adjustment, replacing middle blocker Emmy Twagirayezu with Peace Twagirayezu to reinforce the defense. The switch proved effective as REG successfully neutralized Police attackers Elphas Makuto and Gideon Makuto. Police also struggled creatively, with setter Brian Melly unable to generate effective attacking opportunities, allowing REG to cruise to a dominant 25-14 win in the set. In the third set, REG setter Crispin Ntanteteri orchestrated play brilliantly, combining effectively with outside hitters Merci Gisubizo and Nicholas Matui to complete the straight-sets victory. “The boys gave everything on the court. My target was to remain unbeaten since the second phase. Although we faced some setbacks, we managed to overcome them and finally win the trophy,” Mugisha said. Police VC finished with the silver medal, while Kepler VC claimed bronze in the men’s category. In the women’s category, APR WVC were crowned champions, while Kepler WVC secured silver and Police WVC took bronze.
