DJ Kace, DJ Muun, Dawee and DJ Alida are set to headline a new nightlife concept in Kigali this weekend as "The Desperados Circus” arrives at Mundi Center on Saturday, May 23.

The event is being billed as the first of its kind in Rwanda, combining DJ sets, acrobatic performances and circus acts in a single night aimed at turning the venue into a live, immersive experience.

The lineup is expected to feature local talent alongside a production built with Kenya’s Sarakasi, a group known for circus and performance work in the region.

The aim, according to organizers, is to create a show that feels more like a full experience than a standard club night or stage performance.

Rwanda has "so much potential for diverse events,” one organizer said, pointing to the range of local talent available in the country and the limited visibility given to acrobats and stunt performers. The circus format, they said, gives those artists a platform that is not often available in Kigali’s entertainment calendar.

The decision to merge the show with nightlife was meant to add a twist that has not been explored widely in the local market.

The event also takes a different approach to how a circus is usually presented. While the circus is often associated with family shows or children’s entertainment, this version is being positioned for adults.

The organizers said they wanted something that would give people "a chance to let loose, dress up and have fun too.” The Desperados brand, they added, fit the concept because of its "fresh and fun spirit,” which aligns with the energy they want the night to carry.

Rather than separating the DJs from the circus acts, the production is being built to keep the audience inside the experience from start to finish.

Organizers said they are keeping some of the details under wraps, but promised that those attending will be part of the action. "Everyone present will be a part of the experience,” they said.

The event is being framed as more than a one-night experiment. Organizers said they see it as the beginning of a broader nightlife and experiential events series at Mundi Center. "This is definitely not a one-off event,” they said, adding that more editions are planned and that they hope to build a regular audience for the concept.

The long-term vision, they said, is for Mundi Center to become a place where Kigali can expect "a wide variety of diverse and unique events” over time.

If you are seeking a weekend plan that departs from the ordinary, this may be the one to circle.

Ticket prices are set at Rwf12,000 for regular entry, Rwf25,000 for VIP access and Rwf13,500 for the ‘Prescription ticket,’ which includes one regular ticket and one Desperados beer.
