BOKOTA Labama will be banned for one-year by the local football governing body (Ferwafa) if it is confirmed that he featured in a DRC league match last Sunday.

The troubled striker, who is club-less after being axed by APR mid this week on grounds of indiscipline is under investigation by Ferwafa after wide spread reports that he played in the Congolese domestic league for Kisangani-based Teout Solida Maleketa a day after coming on as a second half substitute in APR’s shock 1-0 victory over TP Mazembe in the second round of the Orange Champions League.

According to the federation’s Chief Executive Officer Jules Kalisa, Bokota risks a one-year ban in local football if he is found guilty.

"We have started our investigations and are working closely with our DRC counterparts. We have asked them to avail us with match photos and team lists for that particular game,” the official said.

Bokota joined APR two seasons ago after impressing with rivals Rayon Sport. Although he tried to live up to his reputation at the army-side, his off-field indiscipline overshadowed his performance.

This season, he had scored 10 goals, just three short of top scorer Roger Tchouassi of Police.

The 29-year-old striker could also be punished by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) if there is evidence to prove that he featured in the DRC league.

Bokota joined Rayon in September 2007 from DRC side Kabasha FC.
