Rwandan children last week joined the rest of the East African Countries in an essay and painting competition. The competition was launched in Huye District and targeted children from both primary and secondary schools.

This program is being directed by the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) and sponsored by the German government

During the launch, ICtR spokesperson, Roland Amoussouga highlighted its importance in the EAC.

"This is part of the Tribunal’s Educational and Outreach campaign in the region for the promotion of the global fight against the culture of impunity- following the tragic events which led to the Genocide in Rwanda in 1994,” Amoussouga is quoted to have said.

Children between the ages of 8 to 16 from 60 schools will take part in the competitions.
